Halloween is one of the most famous festivities in America and England, and now, also in other countries like Spain. Children love this festival, due to the mystery of it, since they are involved in a magical and paranormal world, thanks to their minds and the fabulous imagination they develop.
We have been working on the Halloween festivity by means of different activities. In the English class, Halloween has a great importance, and children and I enjoy it together!
Firstly, we learnt a little bit about Halloween traditions and some words related to the topic.

Halloween es una de las fiestas más famosas en América e Inglaterra, y ahora, también en otros países como España. A los niños les encanta, por el misterio y por el mundo mágico y paranormal en el que se involucran, gracias a sus mentes y la imaginación que desarrollan.
Hemos trabajado la fiesta de Halloween por medio de diferentes actividades. En la clase de inglés, Halloween tiene una gran importancia, y a los niños y yo la disfrutamos juntos.
Primero, aprendimos un poco sobre las tradiciones de Halloween y algunas palabras relacionadas con el tema.

Then, we played some games to review the learnt vocabulary. For example, in this activity we had to guess the correct word reflected on the classroom's roof.

Jasmine, our conversation auxiliary told us the story "Room on the broom", written by Julia Donaldson. After that, we coloured our magic wands.

First graders watched "the skeleton dance" and listened to different Halloween songs

Los alumnos de primero vieron "el baile de los esqueletos" y escucharon diferentes canciones de Halloween.
They played several games…
3 in a row, using pictures and wordcards. (3 en raya, con dibujos y palabras).
Touch the flashcard. Children listened to a word and they had to run and touch the correct one. (Toca la flashcard. Los niños escuchaban una palabra y tenían que correr y tocar la correcta).
The tower. Children had to make a really tall tower with the learned words related to Halloween.
(La torre. Los niños tenían que hacer una torre lo más alta posible con las palabras aprendidas de Halloween).

We made our hats. Each pupil was a character. Finally, we sang and danced the song.

On Wednesday, we worked on different learning stations. In each station, there was a game and after a while we changed from one station to the next one.

El miércoles trabajamos en distintas estaciones de trabajo. En cada estación había un juego, y al cabo de un rato jugando, cambiábamos a la siguiente estación.
LEARNING STATIONS
LYNX GAME
This is the well-known "Lynx game". Children took three pieces with a picture from a bag. Then, they had to find these pictures in a board. (Este es el conocido juego de "El lince". Los niños cogieron tres fichas con un dibujo de una bolsa. Después, tenían que encontrar esos dibujos en el tablero).
SCARY MONSTERS
Children had to throw the die and draw a monster following the directions. (Los niños tenían que tirar el dado y dibujar un monstruo siguiendo las indicaciones).
WHAT IS WHAT?
This game is a special version of "Who is who?" game. Children asked to their classmates: Is it a...? to find the Halloween item that the other team had chosen. (Este juego es una versión especial del juego "¿Quién es quién?". Los niños preguntaban a sus compañeros: ¿Es un...? para encontrar qué había escogido el otro equipo).
STAMP THE FLASHCARD
Pupils had to use stamps to write the words that they remembered related to Halloween. (Los alumnos tenían que usar sellos para escribir las palabras relacionadas con el vocabulario de Halloween que recordaran).
WRITE THE ROOM
The teacher had hidden some cards around the classroom. Students had to find them and write them down in a sheet of paper. They had also to draw a picture of the found word. (La seño había escondido algunas tarjetas por la clase. Los niños tenían que encontrarlas y escribirlas en un papel. También tenían que hacer el dibujo de las palabras que iban encontrando).
